Private Training
Why?
From giving your puppy the best start, to teaching your adult dog essential life skills, reward based training is a great way to spend quality time with your dog, learn to understand one other and improve your bond, all at the same time as achieving your training goals. Well-structured, enjoyable training has the added bonus of leaving your dog mentally tired and relaxed.
How?
I am a strong advocate for science based, humane training methods, which motivate behaviour change using a combination of prevention and management of unwanted responses, and the judicious giving and withholding of rewards. Painful physical corrections or tactics designed to frighten or intimidate will not be used. As a PACT member, I happily work within their Code of Practice.
Why Choose Me?
I am a fully qualified and accredited trainer and Clinical Animal Behaviourist (see the About Me page for more details)
I specialise in training pet dogs and puppies, and their humans, and have helped countless owners to achieve training goals specific to their unique goals and circumstances
What Does it Cost?
We will always try to be clear about our prices, nobody likes unexpected costs. Fees for one-off private training sessions are £73 per hour if I attend in person, or £50 per hour if we meet online. We will let you know before you book, if there will be any additional charges for travel outside our area.
There are discounted rates for pre-paid packages of multiple sessions – because in my experience, regular coached, supported practice is the most enjoyable and effective way to get great results. Discounted rates are £65 per hour in person, or £45 per hour online.

Adult Life Skills 1-2-1 Training
It is never too late to start training. Each dog is an individual and my expertise lies in factoring your dog's lifestyle, favourite motivators and breed specific drives, as well as your priorities, into the training plan.
Reward led life skills training is particularly beneficial for the adult rescue dog, building confidence and helping dog and owner to understand and trust one another.
Pre-emptive training programmes can also be designed to prepare your dog for changes such as the arrival of a new baby or a new pet, or a change of circumstance such as an impending period of post-operative confinement, a change in their owner's mobility or a move to a different environment. Preparing your dog for these events can reduce the likelihood of behaviour problems developing.
I can help you to train:
Polite greeting
Positions and stays (sit, down, stand)
Settle and self-control
Walking on a loose lead
Coming when called
Dropping items on request
Leaving items on request
Handling eg. grooming, nail clipping etc
Accepting equipment eg. a coat or a harness
Enriching skills such as retrieving and scentwork
Go to bed or into a crate on request
and many more useful life skills
